D1 – Legal and Ethical issues

For the legal and ethical issues I will be making sure that the information I am using in my ads is correct. If the info is misleading it will cause a bad reputation for deyes sixth form. The music I will be using will have to be non-copyrighted (royalty Free), this means that it can be used for commercial use without having to pay or get permissions to use. I will also need to make sure I have permission to take and use pictures of deyes high school. I will also have to make sure my advert is not inappropriate and does not discriminate against people of different races, religions, genders, sex’s and ethical groups.

below is my permission email to film and use the logo and images

M2 – Justify planned components
In my advert I am going to use a colour scheme of blue red and white. This is because this follows the schools colour scheme and will show people what college it is if they are already familiar with it. I am also going to use a normal clean font. This is so that people can read the advertisement. If the text is hard to read people will not be as drawn in or interested in looking at the advert. I will achieve a good quality video by using a good quality camera to capture videos and photos. I will also be using a good quality microphone so that the audio is clear with little background noise. I will also be using a tripod in my production. This is so that my shots will be steady. This helps make a video look more professional. i have chosen to create a poster advert as most schools have one to promote their area. this is a great form as it is cheap to make and can be placed in news papers, websites, social media and on busses and bus stops. all of these things are used every day by students and parents.
i have also decided to create an audio visual advert as it can be posted on local podcasts and also local news channels and websites. However it will be used less than the poster and is more costly to create.

My media products fit the client brief as it stated to create a new cross-media advertising campaign. Therefore, I had to make 2 media adverts in different forms for it to be cross media. I did this by creating a video advertisement and a poster advert. The second thing was for the school to recruit the best GCSE students. I did this by adding ofsted quotes. This will make sure that students know that the school has been given a good reputation. The ads also had to referee to the new college building. I shown this building in both forms of advertisement and also talk about the sixth form block in my video product.

M3 Advert conventions
For my visual advertisement I have had to consider the conventions in which should be in a video advertisement. I did this to ensure that my advert was to a professional standard. A convention that I had to consider was the timing of my advert. Most adverts run anywhere between 1-2 minutes. Therefore, I had to ensure that my ad was within this time area. Another convention I had to consider was facts. I couldn’t say anything that is not true about the school. Therefore, research had to be done for me to know exactly the subject the school has to offer and the facilities that can be used by students in the sixth form college. I had dialogue in my video product. This was created firstly with a script. My scrip was written so that I knew exactly what was to be said in which order. This made it easier for me to add the narration in at the end. Another convention is music. I had royalty free music in my video. Royalty free is free to use as it is not copyrighted. I had all my video footage match up to the beat of the music as it will make my advert look more professional.

I also created a print advertisement. This was in the form of a poster. One of the conventions for this was a logo. I used the college @ deyes logo on my poster this is to show people what school it is as the logo is what symbolizes it. I also added contact information to my poster. This is used so that people can contact the school or find more information by using the website link. Another convention would be facts and figures. For this I have used a quote by Ofsted. I have created a slogan for my poster, this is used to catch people’s attention as it is short and catchy. I have used “Your Future Starts NOW!” I have used this as I believe that this is a professional slogan that will interest students that want to come to deyes sixth form.

Contact information – I have used deyes highs phone number and website address. These can both be used for parents or students to reach the school if they are seeking further information, or if they have any questions.

Quote – I have used a quote from Ofsted on my poster. This is used to give parents and possible students how well the school performs.

Slogan – My slogan is ‘Your Future Starts NOW!’ this is used on my poster as it is bold and eye catching. It is also used to draw attention to the product.

The main image will be of the college sixth form building. I plan to take a long shot of the building so that I can capture the entire block in the shot. This image will be used as it shows the main sixth form area of the school. This will show possible students where they will spend the majority of their time.

P2 – Campaign Plan

P2 – Campaign Plan

Client brief
I will be creating a cross media advertising campaign to help recruit the best GCSE results students in the local areas around Deyes.
Format
In my campaign plan I am going to create two different forms of advertisement. My first form of advertisement will be an audio visual product. This will showcase deyes high school and our sixth form. This audio visual production will include the new sixth form common room and will include things like the school badge and the students that attend. I have previously created a survey using survey monkey in order to get information from students to find out what I will be best showing in my production. I did this using a questionnaire on what interest’s people in college and what they look for in the institution. I will have to ask for permission by the heads of sixth form and the school so that I don’t get into any issues whilst filming the school grounds. I must also ask students for permission if I would like to use them in my video. This is so that I do not run into legal issues. I will mainly be focusing on the social life of students within the common room and also the studying side. This is so that there is a nice contrast between working and having fun. I will also include the main area of the school as it is more recognisable to outside viewers.
My second form of advertisement will be a print advert. I will have to make sure that this poster keeps up the standards of the school. This will be done by including the school logo and also colour theme. If I am using any pictures that deyes high owns I will have to ask for permission. I will also need to ask permission to take my own photos of things like the students. This is because they need to be comfortable with their image being used in my product. I may also need to get quotes from the students that can be used on my poster. This can also be used in my audio visual advert.
Image plans
See the source image
I will be taking my own images and videos. This is so that I am not under any threat of breaching copyright laws. I will be getting permission from the school to use their logo in my campaign.

Target audience
My target audience will be based around the maghull and Sefton area. This audience will be in the age demographic of 15-16 year olds. This is because this is the age when people will start to decide what college or sixth form they want to attend. There will not be any 1 gender that my campaigns are targeted towards as the school allows both male and female students to attend. This will also be targeted at the students’ parents or guardians and will show them that it is a relaxed learning environment while still achieving excellent grades for the students.
